Teresa Tapp was passionate about helping others become more fit, and her exercises have helped thousands of people accomplish that goal. From a young age, she researched how the human body works and created exercises to optimize maximum results. Teresa was known for having fitness challenges where people used only her program for 60 days. The results are amazing and can be seen in her book Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes. Teresa was very informed about women specific fitness issues, but there are men who have also used her program with great success. If you would like to learn more about what is T Tapp exercise, then read on.
Who was Teresa Tapp? – An Amazing Woman
Teresa was a woman who took life’s hardships to create something good. Her mother was diagnosed with cancer while Teresa was a little girl, and Teresa witnessed what her mother and other cancer patients went through. She decided to find muscle movements that would alleviate some side effects of cancer treatment. One of her goals was to get the lymph system to drain better and reducing patients swelling, which she did.
Another hardship that challenged a Teresa was an accident in a high school gym class where she chipped three vertebrae. She suffered terrible back pain so she experimented with different muscle movements until she found ones that alleviated her pain. Learning how to do Teresa’s Primary Back Stretch in itself is worth looking into this program. Whenver my back is sore, I do it and it only takes a few minutes.
Teresa started college as a pre-med major. While working on her bachelor in exercise physiology, she volunteered with cancer patients which allowed her to work on movements to alleviate swelling. Teresa then did a graduate assistantship where she studied the changes that occur in a woman’s body as she ages, including changes due to pre- and post menopausal women. At this time money became tight, and Teresa was offered employment to work with models in the fashion industry. This led her to a new adventure of how to have models achieve optimum fitness and posture.
My Experience with T-Tapp & My Inspiration to Keep it Going!
I first heard of Teresa Tapp and her exercise routines when I saw Teresa on a PBS fundraiser. I was intrigued and bought a copy of her seminar DVD. At a later date I bought her Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes book with the DVD included. I gave it a try and even started Teresa’s 60-day challenge that requires you to send in before and after pictures. I think I made it about 30 days, and did not bother sending in my after pictures.
A few months later, my left ankle and foot swelled up and I could not wear my shoe. The swelling seemed to be the result of the heat and the fact that I injured that Achilles several times. I remembered Teresa’s routine helped the lymph system to reduce swelling so I gave it a try. By the next morning the swelling was completely gone. It came back a few times, I did the workout, and it was always gone the next morning. I was convinced and became a T-Tapp fan.
One of Teresa’s trainers came to the Boston area, and I attended a workshop with the Basic Plus Basic. The following year I attended her conference and was amazed at people’s results in just a few days. Teresa always measured in inches not weight, and we were encouraged to have our measurements done before and after the conference. I don’t remember how many inches I lost, but it was impressive.
The Basic Workout only takes 15 minutes and is described in Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes, as well as taught in the included DVD. The nice thing about the Basic Workout is that it does not require much room and does not require any equipment. Even better, it can be done at any age. One of Teresa’s students, Berei B. shown to the right, started in her 70s and made incredible improvements in her fitness level and is still doing T-Tapp more than 10 years later.
The Plus in the title Basic Workout Plus refers to an extra exercise at the end called Hoe Downs. The exciting thing about Hoe Downs is that it proven to reduce sugar levels very quickly. It also is a great pick me up for mood, including mood swings due to hormonal swings created by PMS and menopause.
There are many more workouts by Teresa, but doing the Basic Workout Plus will achieve great fitness improvements all on its own including those benefits achieved from strength training. If you want to do this workout, I recommend getting the book which includes the DVD. The book will give you more detailed instructions on common mistakes people make that will limit your results. An example page showing common mistakes is shown on the left.
The only complaint I have ever heard is that it does not have music. Having no music is to help you focus on your form while completing the exercise to achieve the maximum results. I can do the routine from memory, and could do it with music. If you want music, memorizing the routine and adding music may be an option for you.
Other Workouts – There are Several to Choose From
The exercise descriptions for The Total Workout are included in the book Fit and Fabulous in 15 minutes, but the DVD is not. I personally have not done the Total Workout, except at one of the Teresa Tapp’s conferences. I decided to just become an expert at the Basic Workout Plus, as that is required to be a trainer which I was considering. It is said to say, but Teresa passed away I think about a year ago now, and the company may still be in probate court. I can not find a copy of The Total Workout for sale at this time. There is a slow version available T-Tapp Total Workout Super Slow which was slow paced for optimal learning.
Teresa Tapp was an absolutely amazing, compassionate, brilliant, empowering woman. Her workouts achieve incredible results because she was so focused on getting maximum results. She dedicated her life to researching the human body, and finding muscle movements that maximized fitness. She was ahead of her time by studying the lymph system and fascia. If you have never tried any of her routines I highly recommend the Fit and Fabulous in 15 minutes Book with DVD for anyone of any age and fitness level. It will be one of the best fitness investments you will ever make.
